Biovance Capital (www.biovancecapital.com) is Portugal’s leading venture capital firm dedicated to life sciences. We manage Biovance Capital Fund I, a €57 million fund backed by the European Investment Fund, Banco Português de Fomento, the European Commission, and a range of private investors including Caixa Capital, Ageas Pensions, and EDP Pension Fund. Role Overview

As an Associate at Biovance Capital, you will have the opportunity to develop your analytical toolkit by reviewing life science companies from multiple perspectives—scientific, clinical, regulatory, commercial, and financial. You’ll work closely with an experienced, globally-minded team and contribute meaningfully to the discovery and evaluation of investment opportunities.

This position involves supporting the review of prospective investments and helping manage the assessment process. You will contribute to research efforts, assist with current portfolio activities, and take part in cross-functional projects. The role offers first-hand exposure to a wide range of biotech companies at various stages of development and across diverse therapeutic areas.

This is a full-time position based in Lisbon, Portugal, with a hybrid work model that combines remote flexibility with in-person collaboration.

Your Contributions Will Include

• Helping identify and assess potential investment opportunities aligned with the fund’s focus
• Conducting in-depth market, scientific, and financial research
• Engaging with subject matter experts and leaders in the field to gather insights
• Supporting the team in preparing investment recommendations and working with portfolio companies
• Participating in board meetings of portfolio companies (where relevant)
• Representing Biovance at scientific, industry, and start-up events locally and internationally
• Building relationships with academic groups, start-up incubators, and research centres

What We’re Looking For

• A PhD in a relevant area (e.g. biology, biomedical sciences, medicine, pharmacology, or similar)
• A collaborative approach and ability to thrive in a team setting
• Strong communication skills, with fluency in English (spoken and written)
• Ideally, experience in life sciences venture capital, biotech, or pharma
• EU work authorization and residency rights
• Up to five years of relevant professional experience
• International experience is a plus
